Default Fader controls

Ultra... could I just splice into my front speaker leads and run those wires to my amp's rear inputs to power the rear speakers? I know I wouldn't have fader control, but I should at least have some sound in the back. What do you think?

This is getting ridiculous, to say the least. I'm not going to purchase any more gear...guess I'll ride around with rear speakers that don't work, and I'll let every one know the reason why!
Pretty much the same conversation I had yesterday with an excellent car audio installation guru discussing these bikes and the cars that he works on. My exact statement to him was I could care less if the manufacturer wants to use a computer to control the vehicle but I as THE OWNER of said vehicle should posses the ability to change things up as I see fit obviously without access to the safety features of the computer/vehicle without having to depend on the dealer to do it and then charge me to do so. An example he gave me was Volvo. They have pretty much done the same thing as HD with these damn flashes. If you want a set of driving lights, knock yourself out, buy where ever you want to buy but to get them to work, guess what? A $200 trip to the dealer is required to turn the feature on. Such BS if you ask me. Can't wait to see the double-din fairings hitting the market and the flood of these junk head units flooding eBay. The suck part is it will be at the expense of the owner.

it's never been standard practice to combine a single high level head unit output to feed 2 inputs on the same amplifier. Whether or not it's technically feasible, I'm sure it is but you're then screwing with voltages being divided, increased THD, and decreased impedance on those outputs. IMO, you would be better off using something like a PAC SNI-35 to convert those speaker wires to RCAs then Y off the RCAs into the front and rear inputs. This keeps the left and right signals balanced and isolates front and rear from each other. Just my .02.

SunPilot what bike is this by the way? If pre 14 then the rear outputs on the head unit are already active, you just need to tie into them. You can either wire your own female pins and insert the pins onto the mating side of the radio, pins 1,2,24,25 or you could grab something like this that makes it easy for you

Usually 5-5.5 and which ever setting sound better and distortion free. It all depends on the speakers.

U.N. I have a 2014 SGS. I have the Alpine amp and infinity speakers. I did get the PAC as you suggested. There is no room to install the amp with the low level RCA jacks in place. I am stuck. I either use the front speaker wires and splice into them and then divide those outputs into the four wires on the amp input plug, as AAWAV suggested, or use the amp and use the four speaker wires to input the signal (which will require flashing the radio to turn on the back speakers) I'm a little confused about this flashing. What are the downsides of getting the flash and turning off the internal amp in my head unit? This seems like the logical answer, if it works properly. I do have room to mount the Alpine amp with the speaker level plug...just not enough to use RCA's because they stick out so much. The Alpine is about 8" x 8" which pretty much just fits! I'm lost and my wallet is getting leaner! LOL I did go to Harley yesterday and the tech guy suggested using the new Harley Boom 2 amp...of course that is another $600....he was generous enough to throw in a free flash! Harley is pissing me off!

Local dealer let me in the back today to try some stuff. This is what I learned about 135_OFF.BIN. On a 14 FLHTK if you turn off amp1 and amp2, then select 2 amps installed and 8 speakers you get 135_OFF.BIN.

This flattens the EQ, retains AVC, retains Bass and Treble control but kills the fader.

It's more involved trying to set gains on the ARC amp, but in the end... I am beginning to understand what others have been saying all along. It gets way louder than I care to get without distortion now.
