I thought between the two flashes everyone had their system sounding better .don't know if it will ever be as good as the old radio as far as volume concern.mind sounds 10 times better than stock but don't hold a candle to what I had on a 2012 street glide. .
Doobie,
what's your opinion of the Cerwin-Vega B54 amp? Would that be a good match with 4 Hertz HCX 165 speakers or 4 Infinity Kappa speakers? I've heard good things about the Biketronics speakers but on their website all their '14 and up speakers are listed as "unavailable".

I don't have any experience with the four channel Cerwin Vega but if it's anything like the 2 channel it will easily power either of those speakers. I had clearance issues with my Kappas. The mounting rings are so thick the woofer rubber surround was rubbing on the grills. The Hertz have a much thinner mounting flange. The Kappas were much brighter than the Hertz, but the Hertz hit hard! I have installed the Biketronics in 2 friends bikes with their amps. All have blown. Biketronics warrantied them no questions asked, awesome customer service......but...that doesn't help 900 miles from home, and to tell you the truth I didn't care for the HAT's. Just no depth to them. They are LOUD as F*&K, but they are not for me. They get a TON of love here on HDF, but I went elsewhere ..everyone's ears are different.
So no mounting issues with the Hertz, then? My plan is to go 2 new speakers to replace stock and add two into yet unpurchased lower fairings. The only speakers I could ascertain with no issues so far are any of the Booms, which everyone seems to hate, the JM Rokkers, which seem to get a lukewarm response, or the Hogtunes, which I haven't read a single report on. Does the CV amp come with wiring harness? Thanks for your time and help.
Well, after joining HD Forums a few days ago, like the scholar who sits down with Tolstoy's War and Peace and can't put it down, I just completed all 195 pages of this thread. I feel not one bit closer to deciding how and with what equipment to improve the sound on my '15 SGS. I'm so disillusioned that my inclination is just to remain stock until either HD or the after market people come up with some kind of standard. This ridiculous situation with the Boom Radio triggered a movie metaphor in my mind (Animal House) with HD as Stratton putting their arm around us as Dorfman saying "Hey, you f*!#ed up,
you trusted us!"
Well Said! This thread is making me just stick with Boom Stage 1 and having Harley do it. Then I can go out and ride instead of reading this entire thread!
This thread should just be deleted...it is no longer useful. We have it figured out enough that you can have a jamming system for about $400. Just start a new thread in the audio section and we will help

Doobie, took your advice and started a new thread called Rushmore Audio. Thanks for the advice. Hope to hear more in there.
Well my issue is solved! Damm dealership neglected to install a cb antenna! I questioned the installation process at delivery and was told the cb utilized a hidden antenna. I used the radio occassionally and it seemed ok. Never thought it had enough range but just figured that was due to the internal antenna. Well i took it to a different shop for warranty repair this time. They found the module was toast and said it was due to fact there was not an antenna attached! Well they installed an antenna, and a new cb module and all seems to be ok.

glad you got this figured out. In most cases, if you key up a mic on a regular CB without a load on the antenna, then you'll likely toast the CB itself. I would think that to hold true with a HD CB module also.
I don't think deleting this thread is the answer for what it's worth. I've gone over it more than once. I know how to use the search feature to find what I'm wanting and read what I want. I'm ok with leaving it...
