Just got done installing the 7.1 with a 4180 amp sounds good no distortion. Still not alot of bass but atleast now I can have bass on head unit set at +2 rather then -2 like stock. I had harley reflash the headunit. Like someone else on here said doesnt seem that loud until your ears start to hurt and you have to turn it down.
What are the best speakers for an upgrade on my 2014 street glide special? I dont want to have to mess with an amp, just speakers.
You probably know this already, but if you're not going with an amp, make sure the speakers are 2 ohm, not 4 ohm. Somebody help me out, but I think the Infiniti Kappas that a lot of people are installing are 2 ohm. Or am I thinking of a different speaker?

Yes I believe the Infinity Kappa comes in both 2 and 4 ohm versions...make sure you get the 2 ohm. I would also look at Cycle Sounds, theirs are 2 ohm as well and while I haven't heard them the numbers look like they would be a good direct replacement. They are 2 ohm and have a silk dome tweeter which I prefer to any other type. Again, I haven't heard them but was considering those until I said the hell with it and ordered an amp and 4 ohm speakers.
Spacers have to be used, or shallow mount speakers like a cdt shallow mount or one I'm waiting on that's won't be ready until Oct / November is Stereo Integrity's new 6.5 shallow mid woofer http://stereointegrity.com/forums/si...type-info.html
This one is very interesting but as it's not a coax for full range you'd have to add a tweeter, might use them up front as well.

Got the shallow mount part. I should have been clearer, what brands are people using?
With the spacers most common on here are same as front so Infiniti, BT/HAT, alpine, hertz. Best bang for buck is probably the Infiniti assuming the 2 ohm isn't an issue.
HD screwed everyone up here by relocating the passenger controls higher in the pods. As 4nic8 stated, you'll need to use a spacer (these usually come with most speakers). No way you'll get BT or Hertz speakers back there. Simply not enough room and magnets are too large. You could probably take a chance with Polk MM651, J&M, or dare I say it, Boom Audio. Something like the Kappa 62.11i with the 1/4" spacers that come with them would work also.
