Have an 09 Sg with stock HU, I have boom audio speakers in the fairing. I am looking to add lids, are there any options out there that work with Stock HU and no amp? Or do I need to add an amp also?
You really need an amp to drive them as the stock HU sucks butt. Stock HU will also need to be flashed from dealer to enable the rear channels for the fader and that's not going to be free. Use the search or go back through the last 5-6 pages and you'll find everything you need. John from J&M will be chiming in here shortly with his products but 95% of the others on here will recommend Hogtune lids, Biketronics speakers, Biketronics amp or Soundstream amps (will lose FM reception on the high end of the dial). I went with the Hogtunes lids, Pioneer 6x9s because of bass response (both still need to be installed) and already had a Soundstream PN4.520D. I also installed a Sony HU a little while ago which made all the difference in the world.
sure.. hogtunes 6x9 lids and a pair of polk audio MM691 2 ohm speakers. Good combination..
If you plan on putting an amp in later, I would opt for a better suited (ready for amp) pair of speakers now instead of replacing them later on again such as the Pioneer TS-D6902 or the Biketronics/HAT 6x9s.
