Picked up a Harmon Kardon radio from a buddy, came out of his 2006 Ultra and want to put it in my 1997 FLHT. Can I put this radio in if I buy the retro fit wiring harness adapter? Do I need any mounting brackets to mount this? And I am assuming when I put speakers in, I have to pop off covers in fairing and buy some different speaker covers, right?
Yes I do. From what I have read, I think all I need is the radio wiring harness which I can get from biketronics or hawg wired. Just mainly wondering if radio fits directly into the stock "glove box" and if I need to get speaker covers? Pretty sure the covers where speakers would go on the standards are solid?

is there not a 23 pin connector already inside the fairing that contains all the wiring for your handlebar controls?
If so, just plug it in and go. I'm pretty sure that you're not going to have AVC (automatic volume control)
The speaker plugs, yes you'll need to remove them and replace with either stock speakers/adapters or if I were you, grab a set of infinity 62.11I speakers and 6.5" adapters rings. You're still going to need the black fabric grill cloth either way you go.
