Default Reassembly product advice sought

Hello all,

I am already planning the winner mods now. Lol !! I am planning to upgrade the radio and speakers only and I'm not looking for audio advice as I perused a crap ton of threads already.

The last time I was in the road glide fairing was to upgrade the lighting and during reassembly I was not and am not completely satisfied with the tightness of the fairing. I used a touring forum suggestion of small zip tie ends jammed into the female threads then simply screwing in the new thread cutters screws. There has got to be something better that is readily available.

It's there a product that you have personally used to great satisfaction? Personally as in first hand experience? Would some sort of epoxy from home cheapo work?

Thanks for your help,
Tom

What tightness are you talking about? If there is a gap under the windshield, that is the same that my bike has. Other than that, it should be completely sealed up all the way around. If it isnt, then the tabs on the outer and inner fairings are not properly lines up. The outer fairing tabs have to be INSIDE of the inner fairing tabs. Thats the only place I can think of that has a gap other than under the windshield. If you arent speaking of this then I have nothing else to offer you.

The screws just don't seat all that tightly. I bet I could strip them easily with a handheld screwdriver. Metal thread cutters into plastic posts are probably not made to come apart and back together too often.

To be honest I am just a bit scared when I open her back up, for the last time (yeah right! ), and when I go to reassemble it won't wanna stay shut. That's all.
Thanks,
Tom

Well, if it makes you feel better, I have had mines off dozens of times and have yet to have any issues. Just my luck now when I go to take it off again, I will have issues...knocking on wood....
