Default Meguiars DA Microfiber Correction System

http://www.autogeek.net/meguiars-da-...er-system.html

Purchased this a couple weeks ago and finally got around to trying it out on my bike. Needless to say this kit works GREAT!

Had some nasty scuffs in the paint on the tank and the fenders from constant friction from handlebars cables and saddlebags draped over the fender and the two step process removed it perfectly on my black paint and looks better than it did when I bought it new from the showroom floor.

Highly recommended.

Nothing better than a dual action (DA) buffer and some good polishes then wax.
Can't go wrong with the system you're using.
I've been using Meguiars xt products with a Porter Cable DA buffer and some polishing pads from the same website with excellent results on my black ultra.
Once you start using these systems you can really see the difference.

thanks for sharing the info.

Yep, using a PC Dual Action as well. I'm gonna get some 3" pads to get into the tighter spots for the next time.

I've been using the Megs microfiber system since it first came out. A+
Its original design was for production shops to do a quick, safe 2 step.
A huge amount of Megs research went into this "original" 2 step design.
Basically, it's a mf cutting disc, a mf finishing disc and matched polishes.

The microfiber cutting disc is matched to the D300 correction compound.
The mf finishing disc is matched to D301 finishing polish and wax combo.

The Megs cutting disc and D300 combo became a huge hit in the market.
IMHO The mf polishing discs & D301 not so much but D300 needs a 2 step.
D300 leave a slight matte finish after correction that needs to be cleared.
Folks used foam pads & different types of finishing polishes like M205 etc.
Not wanting to use the "built in" D301 wax folks used other LSP products.

Recently, Megs released D302. This is a finishing polish without the wax.
This allow the mf system to use D300 for correction and D302 to finish.
After that you can choose your own Last Step Product (LSP) to apply.

Now the 3" backing plate question:
I strongly suggest the Meguiars Unigrit 3 Inch Professional Backing Plate.

Q:
Why not go use the less expensive 3 Inch Dual Action Flexible Backing Plate?

A:
The Megs 3" discs are 3 inches in diameter. The 3" DA "flex" BP is exactly 3".
The Megs BP is smaller than the mf disc size & the mf disc overlaps the BP.

What does that mean?
That means when you're working close with a 3" BP & 3" disc the risk that
you will hit the paint with the side of a spinning 3" BP is GREATLY reduced.
It is a BIG deal and not worth the risk when the cost difference is only $10.
* If you hit the paint with the side of a spinning BP you will need to repaint.
(Don't ask me how I know) It's not worth saving $10. Do it once. Do it right.

The Megs microfiber discs are excellent and I use them with many different
compounds and polishes. A favorite is Megs microfiber cutting disc & M101.
Follow with a mf polishing disc or soft foam & CarPro Reflect for high gloss.

Take a moment and look at the side edge of the Megs 3" backing plate.
When you bump the paint you'll be very glad the BP is a slightly smaller dia.
