So I was reading all these topics about air cleaner and tuning and I was thinking, would I be able to do a stage 1 on my own? I have already an Arlen ness big sucker air cleaner not installed on the bike, and I am probably getting the V&H short shots in 2 weeks or so. If I just buy the FP3 tuner and have all those installed, would that be all? Am I missing something?

To do things to make an engine tune up and do it *correctly*, you'll also want a cam swap. The free-breather and free-flowing pipes is just lipstick on a pig. It's the same exact thing one does on a car or truck.

You don't NEED a cam to do a stage 1 properly. Most people don't change cams and are still happy. Yes a cam would be great, but a good tune along with a new airfilter/exhaust is all your average rider will do.

Agree with the others on the Stage 1 upgrade and will make a difference for sure. If you want upgrade further and start thinking about cams suggest you think about the cost/benefit and consider just jumping to Stage 4 and get as much street performance as you can get and get the bug out of your system at the same time.
