Just picked up an 08 Dyna Superglide for the wife and hate that it doesn't have a tach. I have found quite a few incomplete posts about putting a tach kit from the 04-05 Dynas on with some harness mods but nothing final.
I also found a Dakota aftermarket tach combo but really don't care for the look.
Harley makes a Speedo/tach combo for a little less then the Dakota digital. I've been planning to do this to my bike after seeing a thread in the softail section. Check out youtube there's a couple videos about installation and function.
If you want a simple and easy one to install, go with Microtach. I put it on top of the riser clamp and its plenty bright. Have had it for over 5 years now.
