Default fxdx going from forward controls to mids - need to pull inner primary?

99 fxdx currently with forward controls and going back to mids. Can you all confirm that the inner primary needs to come out to re-install the shift linkage? If anyone has a set of take off mids…I am on the hunt for the whole setup.

Let me know - Thx

I did the same, however I DID need to get the linkage - mine was pulled. Luckily I had the plugged holes in the primary so no need to replace. I got a complete set of new take-offs for $150 on eBay and another $19 for the linkage. The shop that did it gave me a trade on some time for the forwards they took off.

Mids are so much more comfortable for me. Just couldn't get used to forwards.

You recall what the install would have run without the trade credit on forward controls?

Believe linkage was pulled and a chain inspection cover with no hole was installed on outer primary. Ordered the new inspection plate and looking for kids and linkage on eBay.

Anyone know What year range mid controls/mounts will work for my bike? Finding a lot of 06+.

Yep. 3 hours labor since I supplies all the parts. They had it done in 2 and half, but somehow I fell into the time warp that is shop labor rates and still paid the three hours... That's $270 in NY hourly rates.

you have instagram? theres a dude on there named harleyparts925 that has tons of sets for sale. SD Harley Davidson is a good place to look for take off deals too. Ask the service dept if they have some they'll take yours towards credit. And if I'm not mistaken 98-03 are all the same.
