I test drove a 2015 low rider and when I would start slowing down while braking and down shifting, I heard something strange. I just want to make sure its a normal sound on the dyna. Its kinda hard to explain but while engine braking the bike made winding down sound. Is that just the engine slowing? Thanks for any info
Under heavy decel, the injectors are shut off completely. It changes the sound a little bit. When the rpms get low enough, they turn back on. When they come back on, you can hear it and feel it if you're looking for it, and with a little experience.
My bike (and others have made the same comment) makes what can best be described as a cicada-like noise under braking. I am told that it is the factory brake pads that HD uses on this bike. I have no idea if that is true. I ignore it, and have largely forgotten about it. When I take the bike in for its recall update after the snow melts I will ask them to take a look at it. It hasn't affected performance in any way.
I had a 2014 low rider for a bit and it made like a whining sound when I was decelerating... It was weird. I have had a switchback and currently own a 2005 superglide and a 2015 streetglide and do not hear the sound in either bike.... I posted a thread on this forum on the subject... It seemed like something to do with the air cleaner though I changed it and it still made the sound.... It seemed to only happen when decelerating on twistys in the 40-50 mph range
When closing the throttle on my 103" engine on the 2013 Road Glide while riding the Blue Ridge Parkway, the engine exhaust sound was quite familiar to that of drag racer engine winding down with the fuel shut off. but the exhaust sounded normal again soon after the odd noise when it appeared the injectors came back on line.
Thanks for all the replies...
Dealer told me $12,250 for the 2015 lowrider. Looks like it's time to pull the trigger. Sticker was $14,999 its a base model
