I dont hide money from my wife, i cant hide installs because she has her own bike and knows the cosmetics of the bike as well as i do. BUT, i do have one little trick for her. If there is something i really want for my bike, i will find the place with the most outrageous price and say, well crap, guess we just cant afford it right now. Then of course a day or so later, I will suddenly find a place that has it one sale for half the price as the one before and convince her it would be silly not to pick it up at this extremely low sales price. For now this system has worked for me, well until the day she might happen to read the dyna forums since she has a Dyna of her own! Keep your fingers crossed for me!
I don't hide anything. I just let her know what I am doing. No reason to lie about something so trivial as m/c's........and I could trade one in and it would probably take her a month to notice but I am very upfront about everything I do.
Technically, in my opinion, I don't lie about it. I just don't say anything but I fess up the few times I get busted as if I just didn't think she would be interested to start with (because she really isn't). It's not a matter of needing her approval, it's my money. It's more a matter of if I spend $200 on myself, I get guilted into that much or more on something she wants. So that $200 mod can cost me $400. What are we, 5, and have to get an equal number of presents under the tree? I make 5 times what she makes but I pay every frickin bill and she spends every dime she makes on whatever she decides to spend it on, and I'm fine with that. But when all is said and done, she has more "disposable income" per month than I do but she's the first one broke every month. I guess I'd spend it like water too if I knew I could jump in someone else's pocket everytime I ran out.
It's really more of a game with me than anything else. Let's see if I can get this, pay for it, receive it, install it, and ride with it and see if she ever even notices it. And so far I've been amazed and what she's never noticed. Yet guys seem to notice every single nut or bolt I change. If/when she notices something, I just tell her when I got it and laugh at her for not noticing. No big deal.
I don't normally have this problem but she's asked twice lately about this winters mods and I just changed the subject. What's hardest though is the posts in here and busting out laughing and when she asks what I'm laughing at I can't tell her cause then I'd have to tell her how much I'm spending and I don't want to.
BTW, about 24 years ago at a stop sign on a Dyna Shovel with a solo seat and P pad we got engaged so she knows the deal.

If I had any control over my money, it would all be gone, my credit score would be 005 and bill collectors would have me on their speed dial. As such, I let my wife handle 100% of the finances. If I need money or want make a major purchase, I hit her up and she gives me what I need. If I'm just grabbing something for maybe $200 or less, I throw in on a credit card and she pays it when the bill comes. Either way, there's no hiding it from her.
