I want to eliminate the stock mirrors and install a pair of bar end mirrors on my 14 Fat Bob because all I see in the mirrors are my shoulders and no traffic behind me. The problem is the stem of the stock mirrors are threaded and are used to secure the front turn signal brackets using an acorn nut. How would I eliminate the stock mirrors and yet still secure the front turn signal bracket to the handle bars?
Has anyone reversed the stock mirrors and hung them upside down using the same mounting hole? If this can be done, the turn signal brackets will still be mounted to the mirror stems although in reverse order of assembly.
If your looking to lose the mirrors but secure the turn signals then you could always replace the mirror stem with a bolt. A nice button head bolt with an acorn but would look nice.
I swapped my mirrors for some generic longer stem mirrors. I can now see past my elbows, but I see a lot of vibration sometimes too.
Good luck!
Yea, that would be a big draw back from a longer stem. I think I will take your advice and replace the stem with a nice chrome head bolt and use the original acorn nut to secure the blinker.
Thanks
Yes you can swap the left and right mirrors and hang them upside down. I've done this to mine, however I also swapped my bars to some similar to street slammers. U can try it and check the clearance on the tank and adjust while steering lock to lock. It does help with seeing more of what's behind me rather than seeing how buff my shoulders are. Lol

Hi dmac_addict,
Do you have a pic of your bike with flipped mirrors?
Tempted to do mine but want to get an idea of the look first.
Looks good! I have the 2014 fat bob with stock handle bars, concerned with the clearance on the tank, might have to go with inverted bar end mirrors...

you would adjust them out ward. your tank is the same as mine.
swing by the hard ware store and get the thread, pitch, and length of your mirrors threaded portion and replace them. enjoy your bar end mirrors.
