I bought a 99 Wide Glide new and put 36k miles on it over 15 years and the only mechanical issue I ever had was a crank sensor that had fouled up after riding many miles in the rain. Got the sensor replaced and sealed up and had no other problems. Just tires and fluids for maintenance. The cam tensionor sometimes needs attention but that is with all the twin cam engines and not Wide Glide specific (I never had any issues with mine).
FWIW I traded my 99 Wide Glide in on a new '14 Street Glide last year and put 3500 miles on that and then sold it. I am back on a Wide Glide this year. It's really hard to beat that bike...

I did almost the same. Had a street bob, traded for a road glide, now I'm on a wide glide. It's not that I didn't like the road glide but it just wasn't a dyna. The wide glide is definitely my favorite out of all 3, none of them gave me any issues though.
I bought my '11 SB new and have put 26,000 miles on it so far. I ride it to work just about every day. I've made modifications, but nothing to the motor (unless you count air cleaner and exhaust). I've kept up on maintenance and haven't had any issues. Absolutely love it!
I bought my '09 in 2011 with 700 miles on it. First 10,000 miles stock. Bored it to a 107 from Fuel Moto and now have 20,000 on it. I have had no issues and it is a great bike, fun to ride, and now has a lot of power(105 hp and 110 ft lbs). I also had the bike painted like the '08 Dyna CVO.
