I realize this is an old thread, but hopefully blueangel73 will see this. When you say you flattened out the shift lever with a press, what kind of press?

Oem shifter will work
The shifter from a dyna defender highway patrol model will work straight bolt on.
HD OEM#33706-01 installed on my fathers 2013 switchback today. Honest dont see with all the 100,000s of FLDs manufacted why harley or parts caster hasn't dusted off the old molds to make some money.
