That's something I forgot about the Corbin back rest. They are adjustable with a Allen wrench. Easy peasey. The seats remove with a key also so it is harder to "lose".
I use the HD Signature seat with backrest 51998-08 on my long trips, anything say over 300 miles per day. I have had two lower back surgeries and one neck surgery and I can tell you I feel nothing when I use this seat on long trips.
Just finished Ft. Worth to Alaska and back in September with several days over 700 miles per day without a problem!

I really like it, and it does have excellent back support. It is fairly stiff (like a good saddle should be) and isn't very wide, but is comfortable once it and you've gotten used to each other...
I have the backrest version, but I basically never use the backrest. It is good, but I just don't need it.
