Ryan, have your dealer look up the Magnuson-Moss act (look it up first to be a step ahead of him). The dealer can't mandate you have them do the work unless they provide it for free. Same goes with mandating a specific brand of oil. Just keep your reciepts for oil, filters etc. and go through the check list in your manual. One of the best things about owning a Harley is the ease of maintanence. Plus its fun getting to know your bike a little better. I've had plenty of warranty issues on Harleys and a buell over the years. All have been resolved satisfactorly and I have never had a dealer do a service on any of my bikes. Bring it in if you want, but you could sure save yourself some cash and spend it on gas,oil and tires instead.

I've heard that also ... But i've put over 100,000 miles on three bikes together and never had a leak..My 99 Evo Springer has 59,000 Had no problems..Jay you shouldnt have give it a thought.. Ride It
No worries here Trotter, I am confident I am using the right oil. Just wanted an elaboration on his theory. I like to learn new things all the time.
And I ride it like I stole it.............[sm=smiley16.gif]

In the time it takes you to drive it to the stealer and pick it up from them, you could have your oil changed and everything else done that's needed for the service
Stealer just picked mine up. For some STUPID reason, I bought the service plan for fuggin 1400 bucks. I don't know what I was thinking as I do my own work on all my toys. They do come pick it up, do the service, then drop it off. OH well...live and learn. I guess it will help if I ever decide to sell it...
