Well I'm back, almost a 2 hour ride home, mostly Interstate. I'll start by saying the experience was incredible. Barry went into every nook and cranny of my map and made some huge changes (apparently). In fact when I rode in this morning, knowing that the bike was running rich my top fuel economy came in at about 40mpg (Interstate). When I came home just now it shot up to a whopping 57mpg by the end. I haven't had such great mileage ever.
Bike is also sounding and running so nicely, especially at low throttle.
Sooo...the chart, Obviously I'm a little disappointed... last time the HP was measured it came in at the low 80's I think and Tq right around 103. HP went up a fair bit to 105.8 (and was still climbing when we hit the rev limiter), Tq max at 100.3
Barry felt that with my Supertrapp and AC that was probably about as good as it would get. He mentioned to climb higher I'd probably want to look at a Fat Cat or something (Damn you Suede), but I love this exhaust so I won't be doing that.
So right now I'm still smiling like a son of a gun, the bike rides 10 times better than it did this morning, I had fun with my project and HP did climb by over 22%. Besides, how often do I ride at full throttle!?
Hey Robby, I was disappointed on my first dyno post build even though my bike screamed compared to before build. Just rode it awhile and then the Fat Cat really helped out. Can't imagine your pipes holding the build back compared to my Bassanis though.
Really curious on your actual compression, those 574s probably need about 11.0:1 static to get max results. If you do a compression check you can determine where you are at.
Not me Robby, I've got the Bobcat, I think Alan has a Fatcat and those might be a little better than mine on the top end HP.
You know, what makes it all feel so great is a good tune, that's what pulls it all together and the arcs of your power look nice and smooth so that's got to really shine in how it feels!
What in the A/C department could be holding it down, doesn't what you have flow enough?
Exactly on the "how often do you ride at full throttle", it's all about ***** and grins and it sounds like you got it
On the AC it was more at 5000 rpm and I can tell you on one hand how often I ride it there!
Alan, I didn't do a compression test but fairly certain I'm at about 10.5:1 maybe a tad down.
But like you all say, in the end they're just numbers. Riding home just now in traffic I was marveling at just how much better the bike responds to acceleration, various throttle twists and such. It really is night and day!
Thanks Mirrmu, one of your kiwi neighbors did the tune and an amazing job at that. We talked about upping the rev limiter since it was carrying on but I felt that I was fine where it is!
