Hey guys.
Im trying to put the black daymakers in the bucket of my 15 fxdf and something just isnt seating right.
Ive tried playing around with the lights and they only seem to fit into the bucket one way. When I try to put the trim ring on, Im having a hell of a time getting it on. The top will barely grab, I've really gotta push... then the bottom will only seat far enough to grab the screws by like 1 thread which I could see stripping out.
Am I doing something wrong?
The daymaker seems to be about 1/4" thicker then stock, I put it back together with the stock headlight and the trim ring practically seats against that lip with the screws
$hitty feeling bro, you drop a wad of cash and then things don't line up. Same thing happened to me with a Mototillumination headlight. Sent it back.
I have the headlight off cause I wanted the room to fit the torque bar in there to install some riser extensions so what Im going to do is take the headlight and daymaker down to the dealer I bought it at so that they can see it doesnt fit, unless maybe I missed something in the two hours I played with it haha. That'll save the hassle when I ask for my money back
alright guys,
just spent 2 hours at the dealer, watching the whole service department force the F**** outta my headlights like a bunch of monkeys trying to hump a football. talking about longer screws, grind this and grind that... eventually I said "obviously something isn't right, I'm not hacking my bike together" so they phoned the techline and they said a Canadian bike is international which instructions say specifically "DOES NOT FIT INTERNATIONAL MODELS
so I get taken to the parts desk, service guy says they wont work, give back his money. now I get to watch the whole parts department act like monkeys trying to hump a football. looking at previous year part numbers, etc etc. then they accuse my powder coating of being the reason why it doesn't fit. I explain AGAIN and show.... the F***ing tabs don't line up!
there's a 2016 fat bob sitting on the floor, so I said try them in that... oh surprise... they don't fit!!
end of the story is... CANADIAN BIKE = INTERNATIONAL MODEL
Its sad that a dealer goes through so much trouble to try and not give your money back. Thankfully they finally did but we have all heard countless stories exactly like this from friends, families, and forums, and yet most dealers just dont care. I know a few dealers are out there that arent like this but most are. Harley owners continually show their fierce brand loyalty and sadly here is yet another example of how one sided our loyalty often is. I wish corporate HD would read more forums so maybe they would remind the dealer owners that without us, they dont have a business to make a fortune from....

-end rant haha
That's pretty strange as I thought the only difference between the US and international models with the headlights was electrical - my UK bike came with one headlight as low beam only and one as high beam only. I replaced that with a US light assembly, but that just fit right into the International headlight bucket.

You're right, the light reflector / glass assembly is the same. The difference in the buckets is those interior "tabs" the bottom 4 are in a slightly different position then the US
So if you look at each side of the bucket as an individual clock. Youll have a tab at 10, 2, 4, 8 or roughly in those spots. The US bucket would be 10, 2, 530, 630. So thats why the bottom of the daymaker won't fully seat into the bucket and sticks up that 1/4".
I should've taken some pics of the rear of the daymaker to show the notches I'm talking about
