Default Dual disk conversion 08 FXD w/ mags

Ok here goes, I've been gathering parts slowly and finally got the new LR wheel and right leg back from powder coat. This has been covered a little bit so I won't go into a ton of detail but figured I'd take some pics and put up some part numbers and the stuff I'm using

New LR front wheel pn-43300280 $425.00
LR right caliper pn- 41300002 $153.00
Raw floating rotor pn- 44553-06A $95.00
Magnum shielding black pearl (non ABS) lower dual brake line pn- 47013 $95.96
Magnum shielding black pearl (non ABS) 23" upper pn- 47223 $44.76
Lyndall gold+ pads pn- 7256 $52.95x2= $105.90

Hardware & misc stuff

Banjo bolt pn- 4147-82A $4.95x2= $9.90
Rotor bolts pn- 3762M x5 $14.75
Spring washers for rotor bolts pn- 6966M x5 $14.75
Upper caliper bolt pn- 44163-00 $2.95
Lower caliper bolt pn- 44160-00 $2.95
Front wheel sleeve pn- 41748-08 $6.95
Rebuild kit for right leg pn- 49379-09 $42.95
Timken wheel bearings pn- 205PP x2 $43.58
Valve stem pn- 43157-83A $6.46
One ounce of dyna beads $6.95

Total $1071.81 plus powder coating. The prices are through direct cycle parts, board tracker Harley, Amazon and the Harley shop. All shipping was free. I'm using a 11/16" master cylinder off an 05 road king that I already had. You can obviously save a ton of money if you have a front wheel that will already take a right side rotor. I currently have the stock switchblade wheels which do not have that option. I'm keeping the stock rear wheel since the new wheel is pretty similar and honestly I don't think anyone will even notice with the bags and pipe covering up most of the rear. I can make some money back when I sell the front wheel, I'll be keeping that in tact since I bought all new parts, most would need to be replaced anyway

I'm going to get started this weekend at some point, I have the pit posse bearing puller/ installer but I don't know how I'm going to make it work with these wheels since the rotors are spoke mounted and not hub mounted. We'll see, I'm hoping to not have to pay Harley to do it. I also am putting on a brand new Michelin commander 2 front tire since everything is apart, hoping I can just push that narrow tire onto the rim like I have done in the past. I'll post as many pics as possible, anyone with some tips on installing wheel bearings into these wheels would be greatly appreciated

You have a tool like this?

The bearing installation should be same as any other wheel...it's the bearing removal that might be a little more tricky.

Doesn't the big castle looking press part go against the hub mounted rotor? I thought that's why it was slotted like that. I gotta look up how to use that thing again

That only gets used during the bearing removal process.

Added later: Make sure you install the 1st bearing in the correct side of the wheel

Ok I got it now, YouTube is the best.. What is that big washer going to sit on if there's no bearing on the other side. One side of the wheel has the numbers and rim size cast in it and the other side does not. On my stock wheel the side with the cast numbers is the left side, I'm assuming the new wheel is the same? The stem comes through the center of the wheel.

I have a lot of parts to get still. Get a ride report when complete. Really want to tackle this conversion this year

Like the powder coated rim

It's in the photo above, but hard to see. See photo below

1st time the"big washer" goes exactly where the bearing would normally go to support "pulling the bearing in" then it goes against the 1st bearing to pull the second bearing in.

Did you get any docs with that wheel to indicate the Left Side? It might the cast lettering side like your other wheel. It is going to be the more shallow of bore depths

Ok, Here's your LEFT side.

Look for the machined arcs (lines) in the rotor mounting surfaces (red circles) and it looks like it has your cast lettering also (green circle). That also should have the shallowest bearing bore. 1st bearing goes here.
