Im not fan of stacking spacers...
what does Lyndall say about the offset ?
Agreed. I was really thinking that Vulcan may be able to supply one spacer to do the whole job. I wonder whether Lyndall may make the sprocket with different (or no) offset as well? Maybe they simply shipped the wrong one?
I emailed lyndall but only made them aware of the issue. I didn't request any reparations; just suggested they disclose the offset in their description.
Their website only has color and chain type (520 or 530) options. Assuming the center is forged, I can't imagine they would want to tool up for different offsets.
They sell a small selection of spacers from .250" to .650". I believe the .650" would work for me but I need to measure and confirm. Can't remember what I have now.
I currently have a 10 bolt spacer from Vulcan and like that style so I'll probably just get another one and cut it to the right thickness if they don't have what I need.
In the end, I think it's just a matter of awareness for the buyer since most will be using spacers anyway.
Lyndall got back to me with an offer for a custom spacer but I declined.
I'd rather do a single 10 bolt from Vulcan.
Makes sense. I'm glad to hear that they made the offer, even if it isn't the most desirable solution. Thinking about it, I'm pretty sure when I replaced my OEM rear pulley several years ago the literature didn't mention any need for a spacer. But I needed one, as it didn't sit at all where the original had.
So, you don't recommend stacking spacers...is this just for this application?
Asking as I have an off topic question pertaining to stacking two (2) spacers on the left side for rear wheel (97 WG, 18" x 5.5", 180) ~ 1.375" or 1.5" in total.
In practice, I'm not sure it would make that much difference. However, I would be concerned about keeping things centered and the long bolts twisting/bending under engine power.
That's why I like the 10 bolt spacer from Vulcan. Available up to 2" thick.
