Slowly getting rid of chrome and sanding or painting the parts that I can. Used a little plasti dip on the air cleaner and horn. Started sanding down the exhaust heat shields.
Stock Chrome look
More sanding and then polish. I'll keep this area like brushed aluminum
All sanding done. Time to paint.
The wheels after sitting for the winter. Before wiping down
Right there with ya, Bro! I don't hate chrome and brightwork, but I think it should be an accent applied judiciously not a primary color. This ain't Dubai!
That's about perfect, IMO, Derik. I've been trying to decide how I want to handle the cam cover and rocker boxes. Mine are both chrome now and I have a black cam cover sitting on the table waiting for me to install. Can't decide what I want. I kinda like the idea of using the chrome there just to make the big "V" pop. Maybe black with a chrome timing cover or chrome case with black timing cover. Too many choices!

Dude, I hear this... been going back and forth with my bike, I'd like to do a gloss black engine kit, prim, trans top & side, timer & rocker boxes. Playing it out in my head how it it'll look on the silver engine. I like chrome a lot but on a black block it looks best. JMO. Its a lot of time and money to find out if ya don't like it lol. Keep us posted OP, looks good.

Theres nothin bright about Dubai
Gloss black on the batt box trim and the "spear" on the fuse box.
cant say Id dip over chrome either, prolly wouldn't dip anything but that's just me, theres a few PC'ers that do nice work I'm interested in. $475 for the whole kit plus a reimbursement if ya send back your parts back in good shape. Thinking that aint so bad.
