It looks good but I've heard there are problems with those and Figure Machine makes crappy parts.. Didn't experience it first hand though
really? i need to scour reviews then. i'd rather have the figure machine cover than the rsd cover. the rsd blocks the things we want to see.
i'm going to try the derby first but, the gasket will be an issue i think. where will i get replacements later on? the stock moco gasket5 would block the window. we'd just see "this side out"
The stones...
Since someone didn't use the right key words in his search I found this for him.
Edit: Not sure if I can post that link, so here's a paraphrase of the review.
Comments about Roland Sands Design Clarity Rocker Box Covers:
I have three clarity covers installed on my 2013 Harley Softail slim. Derby, Cam and Rocker Box. All installed by an authorized Harley Davidson dealership mechanic. Each one is cracked and leaking oil. Performance Machine is unable to send me replacement parts on the Rocker Boxes because they don't have the parts. What does this say about the quality of Roland Sands and the warranty? Serious safety and customer service issue! Roland, I hope you are listening...
BOTTOM LINE No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I've been following that post, not sure that gear drives would ultimately make any difference if in fact the problem was wear of the cam lobes (weird and rare apparently). plus remember that gear cams require a crank with extremely low run out that you would want to check prior to purchase.
Cam lobe wear on pre-2003 bikes is very common, which is why I put Andrews cams in mine.
People freak out about the crank runout but it's no biggie, all you need to do is ensure you have more than zero lash at the two tight points when you rotate the crank with the gears in place....don't worry about the slack points, all they do is create a bit of noise.
You can get undersized crank gears if you have no lash...don't get hung up on the spec sheet.

Right, on all counts.
I had OK runout when I did mine. I think it was .0015. Then had to use undersized inner gears, or at least one. Luckily I found a shop locally that had the undersized gear in stock.
there are issues in that review and it is covering rsd's goods. i learned long ago to look closely at reviews because logic is not always used in them. i have seen some of the most insane reviews with low ratings for products that make absolutely no sense. i've really been unable to find reviews for figure machines stuff
i'm not interested in anything RSD. i outright refuse to put RSD on my bike just on principle, lol.
Fair enuf. I just don't like them. So I look for a reason not to use them. We all pick our poisons.
understood and i totally feel that way about a lot of things i see people slapping on their bikes. i'm just nervous about the random failures. the S&S is a must. the cover will let me stalk the shoe until 20k
