....... plus I'm in my 50s. I guarantee there are more people riding Dynas on here that would rather have a Street Glide but are limited by funds
Not a chance... I've ridden a friends Street Glide... I'll take my Dyna any day of the week over a touring bike... and I'm pushing 60... so really, age has nothing to do with it.
but then... I historically don't do, what everybody else is doing .. the openness of the Dyna, the wind, the noise of the road and the pipes... *that's* being on a motorcycle... to me.
Is there a touring bike in my future?... yes.. but it will be for my wife's comfort... either that or she'll get her own bike... but when I want to go *ride*... it's my blue steel horse I get on.
Well....actually....yeah! I do have a fairly pronounced keel and occipital that makes fitting any headgear problematic. Bridge of my nose is really wide, too, so even glasses are a problem. I may be ugly, but at least I'm fat and anti-social.
I'm in my 50's too and I'm at a point in my life I could afford any bike I want... and I want my Wide Glide I want the wind in my face, I want to feel that 103" pulsing under me; if I don't hear 'Born to Be Wild' when I'm riding it I've got the wrong bike. To me motorcycling is a visceral, near primal thing; if comfort is the goal I'll take the SUV. Heated leather seats, fantastic sound system, navigation, all the creature comforts; motorcycling is something else, a reconnection to the basic elements of man and machine...
Wind in my hair
Shifting and drifting
Mechanical music
Adrenalin surge
Well-weathered leather
Hot metal and oil
The scented country air
Sunlight on chrome
The blur of the landscape
Every nerve aware...
I got to agree with TinCup here,, If I had the money to buy 10 street glides I still wouldn't do it... Thats not what motorcycling is about to me either 57 years old, and as long as can ride, it will be on a Dyna

I got all kinds of hell from friends when I was discussing my plans for chopping my struts off. Everybody was concerned about the inability carry a passenger. I said I didn't WANT a passenger and that any woman I met better have her own ride. They still disagree. Oh well.

Well.........NO............I owned two ElectraGlides, and just traded my StreetGlide for a new Low Rider. I pay cash for all my bikes, and can afford whatever I want. I wanted a MOTORCYCLE again, so I got rid of the two wheeled min-van, and bought a Dyna!

Well said. "Touch screen" bikes are for sissies, who don't know life outside of their virtual electronic world. Geez, kids today!
That took me off track enough, that now I can't remember which stowage bin I put the microwave in, and which one has the porta-potty. One could make a serious mistake.
It's got nothing to do with funds...All that production grade extra crap hanging on those bikes would drive me absolutely crazy. You gotta start somewhere so why not start with a solid platform like the Dyna.Duh. The attraction for most Dyna guys is with the machine we call a motorcycle.
