I did stop at the New Castle dealer next to the DEL/NJ bridge today. I don't know how many Dyna's they had on the floor, but they do have an *** load of touring bikes. I did see two of the new Low Rider S's on the floor along with the other two S models. I didn't think I would ever see two LR-S's on the same showroom floor, let alone at the same time.

"Unpopular" is a relative term. Should HD ONLY sell black Street Glides if that's there most popular model? Absurd. May all those who want FLH's enjoy them; I'm satisfied to have done 30+ states and most provinces on my Dyna's. My wife rides her own Dyna. I've tried 2 120R powered Road Glides and a Road King. All were too obese for my tastes. I've also toured 2-up on a BMW R1200RT; far more capable than an FLH in my books. Just my opinion...FXD's are "popular" with me and my wife.

Big wheel baggers are kinda done. Cafe racers and hopped up dynas are getting more and more popular.

Lots of guys went from softails to baggers when they got older and needed more comfort. But they are still getting older so at some point they need trikes, lighter bikes or stop riding.

Younger crowd is into dynas. Just walk through the magazine section and look at all the cover bikes.

I bought an Ultra because my wife decided she wanted to ride with me. I was going to take the tour pack off, because I thought it was unnecessary.
But it's really nice to have enough room for groceries or hardware. And the fairing makes the bike usable in much colder weather. In Wisconsin a typical day can be 45 at 6 a.m., and 80 at 3 p.m.. So it's nice to have enough room for rain gear, different gloves, chaps, etc..

I would love a Sportster or Dyna for a second bike, but don't want the added expense, storage space, maintenance costs. The bike that makes no sense to me is the Street Glide. It's basically an overpriced FLHT. But people love them, so different strokes for different folks.

Default yea, you know the feeling

[QUOTE=cggorman;15127259]I must be missing something. I just don't get the point of riding a motorcycle that keeps you out of the wind, corners like a truck, has GPS, sat radio, intercom, air ride, etc. Why not just drive a car? Trikes are even more mystifying to me.

I mean, whatever, I'm not judging. I really just don't understand. I've got a convertible 2 door for when I need to haul a passenger and luggage and still enjoy some sun/wind in my hair.[/QUOTE

i gotta think based upon your experience that you have had rides where your bucking a 40 mph headwind and your trying to maintain 70 mph and the only thought in your brain is you just want to get where your going and get the f*ck outta this wind! your buddy is riding next to you on an electraglide daydreaming while listening to the f'ing surround sound stereo and is oblivious to your thoughts! im also in the wind, but i have an old goldwing that i commute to work and can tell you it is a whole different world behind a fairing and completely justified for any distance riding.

My current ride is a 2015 Switchback and it is the most popular bike for me. In 3 minutes it converts from cruiser to tourer, and back again. For me, the best of both worlds.

And here I thought I bought my Road King standard for the cruise control, 6 gallon tank & water proof bags, huh.

Dynas unpopular? Maybe....

In my riding group, most people have some form of tourer or softy. There are a few Dynas - mainly Street Bobs and Fat Bobs, plus some Sportys as well.

The Tourers are mainly ridden by a somewhat older crowd who mainly bring their wives along and I can see why they have them. The Dynas seem to be ridden by slightly younger and mainly solo riders.

But everyone knows the Dynas are the best rider's bikes - and that's what matters!
