12" risers - looking for cable lengths
I am installing 12" risers on the fxdxt. I am currently pushing the limit with my 8" risers and all stock cables. I have frayed the throttle and return cable so I assume I'll need more than just the 4+ inches over stock. Plus I may go +14 in the future, so I want some extra slack for that.
Next is the braided brake cables. I'll need enough slack for +14" if I ever decide to go that high. I know someone has this setup and would love to know what you ordered. Also, opinions on ebay braided lines??
Lastly is the speedo, I am going to relocate it to the middle of the risers, so no need for extensions there.
Thanks guys!
note. I am using stock 883 bars, that have been cut roughly 2" from each side.

I'm in the process of changing to 12" Z-bars on my 09 FXD and went with Polished Stainless Magnum braided cables. I got the bars first,, mocked them up to the bike and measured about 3 times to know what I needed.
Magnum has a nice web site where you enter your model then you can choose what "+" sizes you need. That way you know you get the proper cable ends and angles.
I found +8 was closest to my measurements,,
https://www.magnumshielding.com/inde...te=bike/search
The Magnum site had the total listed at around $300, but I had a local Indy shop order from Drag Specialties and got the set for $270.
I checked and double checked the part numbers (Magnum does list the Drag part #'s too) I didn't want to find out I had a wrong cable during the change.
I did find the cables I needed listed on Ebay too for less then the Magnum retail price, but chose to offer support to the Indy shop instead..
I can't tell ya anything about other brands found on Ebay.
Tip;
You can use a string/yarn or wire to follow your cable route from beginning to end,, then measure that so you have an idea of what you need.
I decided to move that clutch cable route too, I hate how it crosses under the engine.

Barnett or Magnum... I chose Barnett for my cables.
For the brake line, I went with the 2pc HD Diamondback setup... because the line from the caliper to the fork stem 'usually' won't change length... but from the fork stem on up to the bars will, probably more than once.
"If".. costs a lot more money. If you think you're going 14's in the future, either budget for new cables along with it, or get the +8 now.

do not go cheap ebay kits for brakes i can attest to that.. mine leak no matter what and were a pain to bleed id have to take a day bleeding them. leave it for 24 hours then do it again and itd finally get pressure. use magnum shielding my lines are 4 over with 12" wctbars and i have more than enough room for another 2" of rise if i want it.
