Default 2001 FXD dyna super glide speedometer

Hey Everyone
Need your help and expertise.
My 01 Superglide speedo is going crazy...out on the road it tracks speed for a few seconds then drops to zero then pops right back up to speed just keeps doing this every few seconds to every couple of minutes...still shows the milage tach works fine...engine never misses a beat...and nothing else electrical flickers...just the speedo.
Anyone know what's going on?
I've been reading other forums and I'm thinking it might be the speed sensor?
But haven't seen anything on my model. Thanks in advance for the help.

I would guess speed sensor. See if it has a test procedure in the manual. Should be cheap if not. Also a simple replacement. Speedo is kinda spendy.

Mine did that. I pulled out the gage and reseated the connector. That's all it took.

Thanks guys!!!...I appreciate it.
I took the sensor out and cleaned it. It worked for a little while but started back again. I'll try removing the speedo and reseating the connection and see what that does.
LoL...if all else fails I'll just replace it.
I've been looking they don't seem to be all that expensive unless you call an HD dealership. :-/
Lol...they are very proud of their parts.

Maybe some di-electric grease on the connections might help.

Is your tachometer working ? (if you have one at all, of course)

My tach reads about 30% lower than actual revs, my '95 5-sp. Superglide reads 2000rpm at 50mph...

Kinda low... and then just rises up a bit and goes back down again...

I can try to clean the connections but where does the tach pick up the rpm signal ?
