Need some advice please, before I go complaining to the dealership. I have a 2016 Street Bob. The ignition switch was left on for about an hour when I stopped for lunch today. I was lazy about locking it, so some passer-by may have curiously switched it to IGN. Or more likely, I had brain fade and didn't switch it to OFF. After an hour I wasn't able to crank the engine and after a few attempts the battery was pretty well dead. Will leaving the ignition on for an hour kill a new battery? Thanks in advance.
Thanks for the replies. I put the battery on a charger and after a few hours it looks to be fully charged. Will keep an eye on it as I'm heading out next week for a three day road trip. I don't think I'll forget to turn the IGN off in the future. But good thing for friends with jumper cables or I would have been sitting in that shopping mall parking lot with a dead bike.
Once a battery has been abused, it won't deliver performance like it should. Get a new battery coming and turn off your ignition/brake light/headlamp & running lamps.

It does not usually harm a lead-acid battery to fully discharge and recharge. If it were mine, I would recharging the battery on an automotive charger for a few hours and then take it to an automotive parts store and have them capacity check it. As long as it can deliver full cold cranking amps when fully charged, then it is good to go.
The last new HD OEM battery I put in ny 2001 FXD went through a stator failure and voltage regulator failure right after I installed it, another voltage regulator failure, and three or four brain-fart leaving the key turned on scenarios where it was discharged flat-line. Each time I recharged it with my automotive charger and putted on. It lasted just over three years.
Thanks for the insights. It put it on the Ctek charger for three hours and it was "back to normal". Started up fine, but I will get it checked before the road trip this weekend. Just in case.
