I put the 4" risers on my 06 for the same reason. The brake line was stretched to much for my liking so I changed it out with a dealer take off from a 06 Wide Glide. The speedo was standing up to far from the risers and I ended up having a mount from a Sportster modified to set it back to the stock position. It took a little doing but well worth it.
Search for the Accutronix guage mount if you want to move your stock guages.
$100 for the mount and you can get the stock 2005 Dyna guage mount used for about $20.
We used that mount with 2005style guage mount, Duece risers, and drag bars on my brother's 2006 Superglide...all stock cables. The risers are about 6".
It gives you the option of any bar without the Speedo sticking up in the air. Couple of pics for you.
I thought about using risers but decided to install Street Bob stock bars instead. You get the same result. Had to change out the clutch cable, throttle and idle cables, and the brake line. It only ran about $170 I think.
I would like to thank everyone with the pictures and comments for the risers. I ended up using a pullback riser from a sportster. The speedometer mount is under the bar now. I think it came off a sportster custom? Love it. Only had to bend the brake line. It was hitting my key? Took a mandatory motorcycle safety course today at Fort Rucker. The bike handled much better with the newriser/pullback.
I was going to do the Mini apes until the hd dealer said the cables would be more than $250.00. I sure like the lookson your bike. Mascman also had a good idea with his. My speedometer mount has the small hole for the idiot lights. My idiot lights have one too many bulbs to fit. Any suggestions?
