Default Turn signal relocation

I bought the turn signal brackets from Kuryakyn for my 2007 Dyna Low Rider. I have two questions.

1. Where do I get the fine thread thread bolts? I checked Home Deopt and Lowes and they carry nothing close to a bolt that will work. I suppose common sense would have been to check with the local HD dealer. Will the HD dealer carry bolts that will work?

2. How do you seperate the wires from the turn signal? I popped the cap off off and removed the light bulb but it doesn't look like the insides come out. I pulled fimly on the wires thinking they just unplug from the light. I didn't pull too hard since I didn't want to tear the wires out if they weren't meant to come off that way.

Any help would be appreciated.

actually you dont pull the wires "out" you push 'em "in"
i use a small flat screwdriver to pry the inner housing/refector out towards the front of the light[through the bolt hole]
while pushing the lil rubber grommet inside the housing... it's tapered to go i"n" not "out"...
once thats all done you'll see how the wires are terminated...one through the center and one plugs in the side of the reflector/housing/thing-a-ma-bob...[you really dont need to disconnect these

to get the wires completely out of the housings [so i could powdercoat them] i went to the other end and removed the wires from the connector...slid everything through the housing...!reverse operation to re-install

Some Ace and True Value hardware stores have a lot of specialty fasteners. In my area, they didn't have the 5/16-24 x 3/4" button heads I needed soI ended up ordering from Allen's Fasteners http://allensfasteners.net/.Usethin jam nutson the screws asthe stock light won't sit flat against the Kuryakyn mount. I used a jam nutagainst the mount and another one against the light. This way you can adjust the angle of the lights without taking the mount off the forks, too. You can re-use the jam nuts from the stock mounts, but I ordered some chrome ones along with the button head cap screws. You may also want to get a couple chrome acorn nuts for the bottom of the mirror stems where the stock mounts attach, also 5/16-24.
I just cut my wires and soldered them back together. Covered each splice with heat shrink tubing and then covered the whole mess (3 splices) witha larger piece of heat shrink tubing. I cut the wires close to the frame so I could stuff the excess back in the hole.

You can use the factory allen head bolt if you have to. Tighten everything up the way you want it. Mark the head of the bolt with a sharpee pen and grind it off down to the marks at an angle. There will still be enough of the bolt head left to get a grip with the allen wrench. You can also use a small rubber o-ring or the end off a fuel line to space out the light from the Kury mount. This will sung up good but will still allow you to twist the housing a bit to adjust the angle.

Good Luck

Tom
