Default MY Slim signal relo

After lots of research on this i decided to move my front turn signals down from my bars to my forks. lots of ways to do this, some lots easier, but i wanted to do it with no wires showing. So i started with 2x 5/16-24 bolts and 4 nuts.

drilled them out with a 3/16 in bit.

Now i have 2 new hollow bolts

Opened up the front and marked where the collar was so as not to drill into it.

Taped the chrome strip off and put it back on, ended up drilling a 5/16 hole 1.5 in up from the bottom and center.

This is how it looks with the bolt mounted

Now the strip just mounts back like normal EXCEPT you have to make a 1/2 in hole to clear the head of the bolt in the 2 fairing pieces. This part was scary!

I cut the wires to the lights at the middle of the bars and pulled them through.

i took the light apart and fed the wires thru the bolt hole. i had to pull the black plastic off to fit the three wires thru the bolt and then just mounted the light. still need to find a plastic plug to fill the original hole.

i put some heat shrink over the wires once they were pulled thru the fairing, then i just mounted the strip back on the bike. and wired the lights back together.

I know you can buy the bolts online, but that didnt seem fun to me. all in all a pretty easy mod, lots of drilling but it looks good. i also painted the nuts black and they dont stand out nearly as much now.

Nice job - first one I've seen done with hidden wires.
Sure, you may have been able to buy the parts but nothing beats DIY...

That looks good great write up. I would do that but my windshield docking hardware occupies that spot.

That's how i did mine, more or less. I used chrome spacers instead of nuts.
