Default rim swap spokes
i'm changing my 19" sportster rim to a 16", it has the standard disc hub and wanted to know the spoke lengths i will need

forgot to mention its a drop center rim, and 20 of the spokes have a longer neck

+1 on Buchanans! If you're getting stainless spokes and want the polished look, its worth the extra $ to have Buchanans do the polishing. Excellent customer support.

If I recall, someone recently did this here on the forum, probably one of the threads multi shared. I believe there is contact between the spokes with the 16" and the tight quarters of the 16" hoop. I believe the sportster hoop only has 32 spokes to eliminate this issue.

16x5.5 Excel Aluminum rim, 40 spoke, touring hub (I think. Bought it used from ebay.), Buchanan's stainless spokes and nipples. Laced and trued by me.

Cheers, great pics, mines a front wheel and its 40 spokes with a longer neck on 20 to clear the next spoke on the hub., just need spoke length.
