On my SB, the blow by oil, or whatever you want to call it, is directed back to the air intake. Some say Not good for engine. Have you installed an extra filter to take it out? How bad is it to leave it as is?

If its excessive, may have overfilled the oil.

I use the DK Customs breather bolts. You really dont want to much blowing out or will make a mess.

What's your Opinion on Blow By Oil

Vent it to atmosphere..., problem solved

But then..., be sure to oil your filter up..., after cleaning it

Routing that hot oily air externally with an External Breather System rather than back into your engine is definitely something you'll want to do to prolong engine life AND increase performance.

Check out these images....

Now, when it comes to blow by, if you have blow by in excess, you'll not want to go with the breather bolts. There will be a mess down the side of your bike and if you have a passenger, they won't be too pleased either, lol.

If this is your case, there are options, however, for hose and filter or catch can External Breather Systems. Allows you to route the filter/catch can basically anywhere on your bike in case you'd prefer to have it sort of hidden.

But to your main question, I would not suggest leaving it as is. Do your bike a favor and route externally. I assure you, you will be glad you've done so and so will your engine. Engines prefer and run better on cool, clean, air.

Also, the link below contains lots of information pertaining to this that you may find helpful.

This normally turns into a rather passionate debate as whether or not to vent it to atmosphere, why you get blow by, and how much oil to fill during services. I follow the service manual and use 2.5 quarts, I get blowby, I believe it is best to install a catch can and vent it to atmosphere, and I will be adding one to my bike sometime in the near future.

Its ts really common sense, if colder, dense air is better for performance, in what way could not, oily, crankcase gasses be ok to route back into the intake? I don't care how small the amounts are at any given time, it's only gonna hurt performance & longevity.

4 hose clamps, about a foot of hose, a brass T hose fitting, and one of these...around $20 total.
