Since I already forgot which Dyna you have, I would suggest getting 2 inch risers if you don't already have them (my lrs came with 5.5 risers so I bought drag specialties 1.5 inch risers) if you're gonna go with apes.

Again, if you go with 16s, and they feel a little higher than you want, you can always loosen the riser bolts and pull them back a little to make the grips a little lower. I started off with mine pulled back a few inches and ended up pushing them forward for a higher feel and I think they're perfect.

When I first bought my bars I was in the same boat and didn't know if I should go with 14 or 16. I didn't want to go with 14s and have them be too short cause I don't like the look of higher risers with ape hangers.
Yeah see I was also figuring I could pull back the 16's if they were too tall. I don't like the look of tall risers with apes either. And my bike has 2" stock risers but I'm probably going to change them anyway to get black ones.

mid you already have the size you want, you could always have them powdercoated. I bought mine brand new, then scratched em like a ****in idiot so I had to have em powdercoated. Only cost me 40 bucks it just sucked cause I was trying to tear the packaging open instead of just cutting it like someone with a brain so when it finally tore open they came flying out. That's like a kick in the ***** from Jesus

Imo 12 inches are the perfect compromise for style and comfort. 14s look very nice. That's why I got them. Still comfy...but that's where I'm feeling a larger compromise in comfort. For longer rides I'd rather have 12.

16s...that's pure style unless your built like a giant.

I'm 5-10 with 14s. My arms are parallel to the road.
