Oh my aching butt!! I just got back from Balsam Mt. NC. Went there to see an old high school classmate do a country/western show at the Balsam Mt. Inn. Becky Hobbs does a really great show and her sidekick Benita Hill has the voice of an angel. What a great show. Got down there after 522 miles on my Super Glide. Rode through three Thunderstorms with rain drops so big they felt like rocks hitting me. Still, it was really worth it. I got to take Becky Hobbs and Benita Hill out for supper and a great evening of conversation. Just my luck, though, both ladies were true to their men. Oh well, I still have my fantasies! The trip home today was sunny all the way and the traffic was acceptable. Most of the way I held at between 85 and 90, wow what a great bike. By the time I got home, though, my butt was ready to call it quits, at least for today!
Sounds like a great ride and I know NC has some great riding roads. I havea old high school friend that wants me to come for a visit...but I live in Ohio and that would be a 900+ mile trip....one way. Call me a poosay, but I don't think I'll make it. The most I've done in a day so far has been 285 miles with a bunch of stops just on a joyride/cruising afternoon. The first nice weekend this spring I did 465 miles in 3 days and was sore for a week after...guess I had to build my tolerance up first.
Well, after about 100 to 120 miles I need to stop and stretch so I fill up then. I stopped5 times before I got to the Inn. On the way back I was really hurting for the last 150 miles. I would have stoppedand restedfor a longer time but I wanted to get to
DCbefore the really heavy traffic hits after 3:30 PM on 95.
