Have you done any research? Multiple threads here about swapping. Cheapest way would be to find somebody who wants to swap to forward controls and exchange parts with them.

im not sure of part numbers, but I know you'll at least need inner and outer primary cover, through shaft for shifter that goes through the primary, shift lever for outside and "inside" of primary, peg mounts from the frame, the shift link to the transmission, brake rod, and brake lever. As well as corresponding gaskets. Look at an OEM parts diagram and parts list for part numbers. I believe HD used to sell a complete kit to swap from forwards to mid controls, but I can't seem to find them anymore.

I was doing some yes.
just checking what I found
one thing I read was that it wasn't that intensive if they capped the one shaft. since this is a early model with the 103 do all the new 103 set ups fit the same ?

Check out this thread. https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...l#post13669243

Do your research, have all your parts ready and your service manual handy. I went into it prepared and it took half a day. Missing any part would have made it much more annoying.

alright before I get that in depth is there a way to order a mount that isn't that far forward and keep forwards I'm 5'5 so it's a challenge on this bike

There are reduced reach forward controls that are a couple inches closer. I've never ridden with them so can't really speak into it though.

They also have a "reach" kits to move the forward controls back some, which might allow you to use the forwards you have. They would bolt up like extensions, but in the opposite direction, with shorter rods and linkage to fit. I have the extensions on the set I swapped with another guy, and don't really need them, but I've kinda gotten used to them now.

Don't let the work of converting back to mids stop you from doing it. I was a bit skeptical because of how much you gotta take off to switch them, but I just knew what I was getting into and made sure I had all my parts and it really wasn't difficult at all. Going from forwards to mids changed the whole feel of my bike and I'll never go back. I grew up riding bmx though so I like my feet right under me. If you'd prefer the stretched out feel of forwards try one of the options to bring your controls back and look into seats that might move you forward a bit.

well I just purchased it so for now I was going to move them back and later maybe search for some one that has mids that wants to trade. I kinda do like the forward but I was always on dirt bikes so I like my feet under me. just looking to see if I could get away with it till next summer
