2006 Street Bob Ignition Relocation
I know I could buy a wide glide dash for the switch. I'd like to keep the wrinkle black dash though and it only comes in black or chrome.
The other popular option of drilling my current dash I don't really like the way people are mounting the actual ignition switch to the tank.
Has anyone used or know if it is possible to utilize a newer Street Bob dash. I'm not sure on years but I know newer Street Bob's such as a 2015 already have the ignition switch on the tank.
Anybody know if this could work on my 2006?
Ok I just wanted to give everyone an update since a lot of people viewed this thread but nobody replied. I also saw the same questioned asked in other threads, never with a reply.
I took the gamble and purchased a dash from a new street bob with the ignition switch from eBay and it fits! I purposely bought one that was dinged up at a super cheap price incase it didn't fit. A little auto body work and VHT wrinkle black paint( Perfect match) and good as new.
To hold the switch in place I made my own bracket out of some sheet metal mostly because I didn't want to wait to buy one form the dealer. You will also have to drill a hole for the trip reset switch.
I purchased the switch for $60 because it was a combo with a new fork lock. Sadly I didn't realize how big of a job the fork lock was and the cylinder did not fit any way so I only did the switch. I took the rubber off the stock key. No big deal for me, in 12 years I have never used the fork lock once and I also have the security system. If it is that important to you purchase the ignition switch from Harley with matched keys.
