More then likely it’s the normal ( for Harley) front fork clunk that the stock suspension causes. If you have never changed the front fork fluid...nows the time, and while your in there get a good set of Traxxion springs....

oh, you do realize you posted this in the dyna section.......

Dyna section? Oops. LOL. Thanks. Would swapping to those $90 Progressive springs alleviate the clunking?

Progressives might and heavier weight fork oil might too, if that's the problem.

It wasn't the washer. The nut wasn't tightened to 80 ftlbs, but that wasn't the issue either. I guess it's fork oil next. Then, if that's not it, it spring replacement time. It'll get found, one way or another. Then, hopefully, everyone can learn by my experiences too.

Have you checked neck bearings? Are you sure the clunk is in the forks? Have you checked exhaust mounts? Get on bike and rock handlebars, roll forward hit the brakes,etc... Get a rubber mallet and hit the front wheel, jack up the front end and hit with tire with mallet, listen for anything loose.

It's definitely something with the front end (fork area). I've shook the thing a few times. I'll go out a little later and roll it and slam on the front brake, but, braking hard doesn't seem to affect is while riding. It's all about bumps and potholes. It's not bottoming out either.
