ok great. just checking. use some sort of grease to lube it up and it should slide right in. i dont do the freezer because naturally, rubber gets hard and more brittle the colder it gets. not my cup of tea.

Seat pipe? You talking about the piece in the bottom under the fork tube, with the bolt from the bottom of the fork? If so, completely assemble the fork leg and tighten that bolt last. The spring tension will hold it in place

You need a Fork Seal installation Tool. It has enough weight to generate the force needed while not damaging the seal.

People been using PVC before these tools were ever invented. Are they nice? Yes. Necessary? Absolutely not

electric impact wrench from harbor freight did the trick for $40. So i have the forks all assembled (no springs or fluid yet). One of them slides easier than the other, not sure why or if it will matter once the springs and oil are in there. It's been a learning experience for sure

lol lube helps EVERYTHING! lmao. is it tougher AFTER everything is put together? or before you screw the top cap on just sliding the tube is more difficult? you shouldnt have needed an impact. the spring tension alone should have been more than enough.......

Many thanks to all your feedback, had the bike out yesterday and it handled exceptionally well on the highway and in the twists. I think i had been slowly losing oil over the past year or two and hadn't realized how the handling deteriorated. In retrospect, a couple things i would have done differently would be to loosen the pinch bolts more as i can see some tiny scratches on the fork tubes where i slid them out. Once i had the forks assembled, i should have covered the new black sliders up with some of the padding they came with--somehow i managed to get a tiny nick on one of the lowers. I learned a lot, and once again, appreciate all the help this forum has to offer :-)
