so far so good with my 06 fxdbi, sometimes during hard exceleration shifting into second and third the trans will drop back down into a lower gear, its infrequent and doesnt happen very often if i ride normally... i have meant to take it in to be looked at cus its happened a few times trying to gun it and get ahead of traffic or change lanes away from tailgaters... only problem is that its my only transpo so sitting in the shop isnt an option for me..
I have a 05 dyna with 15k miles. The only trouble I had was a faulty battery (cracked on the inside)at about 5k miles. The dealer came get the bike from my house free of charge and it was fixed within a few days.
16,500 = rear wheel failure (first blamed on improper alignment when installed, then blamed on (me) not having spokes tightened at 10,000, finally blamed on rear axle bearing failure)
19,400 = replace rear, inner primary bearing. (Dealer had assured me this was a dead issue and although the 06 manual called for the bearing to be replaced ever 15,000, HD discontinued that service)
Good news = all of above covered by warranty
Bad news = I ride 25,000 miles per year. A weekend in the shop costs me +500 miles of fun/transport.
My Harley dealer will deliver my 2007 FXDC next thursday; I put my VIN number on the mentioned linkand surely my bike needs EFI reprograming to avoid engine damage. It says something like 0903 TORQUE SMOOTHING CALIBRATION. Now that is a great start with my first Harley.... There also seems to be another issue with a noisy 5th gear, but that I have to check when I first ride it next week.
