Just for future notice, always change gasket on everything. I always do that, but the rubber gaskets can be reused if they dont have tear and have hardened. They're pretty cheap also, so why not swap them out while you at it :P
The snap rings can be hard to install. I belive you should have it, or else the flange wouldnt be pressing the pipe into the heads? Or am I wrong?

I got the snap rings on. My snap ring pliers were too small so I did a little caveman work with some big channel locks and got them on. I inspected the gaskets when I took the exhaust back off and they definitely need replaced.
