Default Primary seal direction

Im replacing the inner primary seal. The one that faces the drive sprocket. The original one is marked oil side and compared to an ordinary type seal looks like its installed backwords but its not. The new seal is a james gaskets and looks different. Like an ordinary type seal. Does the new seal go in like the original seal lip out or flat side out?

Install the new seal the same as the old one- unless youv'e changed to a 'dry' primary (like a belt drive primary)

General rule of thumb with shaft seals is the flat side faces away from the fluid you’re trying to contain. That seal is there to keep transmission fluid in the transmission. So the flat side will be facing you when you install it.

Thats what i would think because then the spring on the seal would be on the fluid side like the orginal seal.

is it behind the pulley or before it? I may have told you wrong as I was thinking that is the main shaft seal. Either way the same principal applies. Flat side away from oil.

Its the one on the back of the inner primary. It faces the sprocket.

That is an annoying issue and the only way to solve it is to use polyurethane sealant properly.A while ago, I had to use caulk for my shower, and I didn't really know what to use since there are many things people recommend. I had some people saying that I need a sealer and other people said that I need somethings else. I decided to find out myself and went on the internet. After hours of searching, I ended up finding an article about the best kind of caulk for exterior caulk .I decided to read it, and after reading it, I understood what went wrong, and I ended up choosing the right option.
