Went for a long ride today and purely in the interest of science gave my top speed another try. Open road speed limit where I live is 130 km/hr (about 80 mph). In Australia Harley speedos read to 220 km/hr (137.5 mph), not that you can get em to go that fast without a lot of work!! Wound up in 5th gear I can hit an indicated 190 km/hr (119 mph). It doesn't hit the limiter but changing into 6th doesn't give me any more speed. I've had the same result down the straight at a few track days I attend to keep my hand in. Bike has stage 1 and SE Heavy Breather air cleaner. I'll probably go to a 95 kit when it's out of warranty.
you guys have no idea what speed is all about, lat Thursday I took the front fender off my 06 FXd, I have flat track bars on it now and I snuk into the local 1/2 mile dirt track and went playing with it, was just shifting into 3rd as I was going in to turn one after a full lap to get up to speed, taped the rear brake, slid it a little sideways and rolled it back on, never hit the rev limiter or never did look at he speedo, but what a rush, oh I was not really out of my element, I am a old flat-tracker and ever since I bought this bike I wanted to try it out on dirt, dam outer primary digs in on a hard corner. it really revs way to slow for a flat-tracker but it was still fun, maybe the bigger front tire will help, we shall see..anybody can go fast on a drag strip or on a 2 mile straight stretch, try it on the dirt, what is it they say, asphalt is for to get to the dirt .[sm=confused06.gif][sm=icon_sneaky.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif]
So I take it the rumor I heard about the Street Bob shutting off at 95 is wrong then huh? I like the pipes, I just ordered some for my bike as well. I noticed your apes on there are bigger than stock as well, how tall are those? Take care
After reading all these posts I have a question. How are you guys with these hopped up motors able to keep the front motor mount from tearing out. Even a stock dyna will tear them out on an average 12k miles. I am on my 3rd one already. I am thinking of making my own.

sumpin' bad wrong with yr bike, bro' "tearing out" motor mounts at 12k....?? I'd take it in and have a look see.
Funny how your post drew out the nannys and knotheads! A couple guys figured it right.
The apes man, the apes. You can't run a decent top end with your arms and body acting like a sail. Forget top end in 6th gear too - without tail wind, downhill, more hp, or all em.
Just for comparison my 05 stage 1 [70 hp] 1200C sporty baggerwill run 110 any time with my big *** setting straight up.

I've top ended every bike I have owned.
"nannys and knotheads"??? Is your "big ***" from the moon?? [sm=WTFsgign.gif]Why not "top end" yr self back to sporty world ?
I have had Susie to 115 with more left in the throttle. Keep in mind, I have 510G cams, intake, sxhaust, and a DYNO tuned PCIII on top of a Factory download, which has my redline at 6200 RPM. With the SE gear down kit and SE pressure plate, burying the speedo is no problem, (still at 88 cubes with stock heads)......With my windshield on, she tops out at 110.[&:]
I have decided not to do that anymore though. My tires, brakes, etc. are not made for doing that, and I would rather stay at 75-80.....I enjoy the ride much better that way personally.
