There is nothing wrong with my bike other than the horsepower. I have been reading all the posts in here on the Dynas and was just wondering how the high horsepower bikes in here, keep from tearing the front mounts out. I have been to 3 different local harley shops and all the parts people there say that even the stock bikes, if ridden with any authority, will tear out the mounts in 12 to 20k. My bike eats them like popcorn but I know the reason for that. That is why I am thinking of building custom mounts. I built this bike from the ground up. I have an S&S 124 TC that dyno's in at 130hp and 140 ftlbs torque at the rear wheel. Its hooked into a Baker 6 speed with custom gearing that not only turns a quarter in less than 10 seconds consistently, but tops the bike out at 145. There is nothing stock about my 01 and the only thing harley is the frame, fenders and tank. I have one last bug to iron out and that is the front motor mount. I bought the motor mount brace that limits rearward movement but that didnt stop the forward movement when I accidently throttled too hard with about a 100 lb girl on the back and came down hard after a wheelie. I am looking into building my own urethane mounts to stabilize this thing. I know what most of you are thinking, "you dont do this to a dyna". Well I like getting outside the box. Unless anybody else is into this kind of thing and has solved this problem, I guess I am on my own. I tried to upload a pic so you can see what I have done to this bike but I guess the pic is too big. I was hoping to have this bike totally done except the paint by Biketoberfest but I am adding forward controls with the master cylinder up front, an oil cooler, and I have to get custom lines made from my front master cylinder to the lower triple tree and from the lower triple tree to the caliper. All this custom stuff takes time to do it right. All the plumbing for the cooler, forward controls, and triple tree takes a lot of time to get the right stuff. If there were a lot of people doing this kind of thing to a dyna, there would be kits already made. Looks like I am taking my Roadking instead. I'll post a pic when I get done. Later guys.

OK, onebad, if you say so...I guess you tear up motor mounts 'cause as you said " the only thing Harley on my bike is the frame" so how do Harley riders who ride Harley's that are polly' at least 90% Harley respond to yr quest?..dunno..go figure...[sm=dontgetit.gif]

I finally added a Ness stage1 Big Sucker and a Rev Tech DFO to go with my Khrome Werks mufflers and I hit 120 mph in 5th gear from a 4th gear roll-on. I weigh 185 lbs and got as low on my Streetbob as possible. I agree with the earlier comment about mini-apes and wind drag slowing you down but I wouldn't change 'em for any reason. I just like to know what my top end is.

If you want to cut the drag down. Find a Indy builder. Have her heads Ported and polished, 95" pistons installed and some cams. You won't feel wind drag any more.

My bike is basically stock, but until I gave it more air, etc. it couldn't go over 107 mph in any gear.
With a few relatively cheap mods, it'll easily bury the speedo needle in 6th gear.
I am about 6'1", 160 lbs / wet.
I run her up to about 105 in fourth, then 115 in 5th, then into 6th and just cruise at 120 mph.
Before I put a backrest on, I could hardly hold on over 65 mph. With the backrest speed is no issue, except the feet want to be airplanes over 110 mph.
I personally don't recommend speeds in excess of 65 mph [8D], but then 6th gear is rather useless under 80 mph.
Ride safe.

You could try putting your feet on the passenger pegs, lean forward into a crouch for less drag and no "airplane feet."

I'd call GMR performance or talk with a custom builder on yer problem.

Back on topic, I hit 100mph yesterday on the freeway passing a line of semi's, in a hurry, good dry day, no wind, looked down to see the needle at 100! Backed off, still had throttle to go. I don't usually seped that much, but was nice to feel that sucker haul a$$! ( Not recommending hauling a$$.......)
