I run the stock windshield on both my dyna’s (one is a Switchback and one a Superglide/Switchback) and yes there is some buffering but not to the point it’s not safe or un-rideable....from what I have seen and read, most of the wind actually comes from underneath the shield....next ride try putting your hand down just over top of the tank and see if that changes things....some lowers for the windscreen seems to help...

About once a year I put the stock windshield on to remember how much it doesn't work great.
But if I put my boots up on the tops of my engine guards... perfect pocket of air to ride in.

Fork fangs I hear are the real answer for the buffeting, but I just can't bring myself to put something that ugly on my bike.
So I just ride without a shield all the time. Highways suck anyway.

It must be a combination of my larger than average height, the failed front engine mount, the fairing....And frankly, my lack of experience riding Harleys.
I got my new mount today.
I'll install it Monday.
I put the bags back on. But that shield will stay off. It doesn't look very good and it doesn't work very good either.
I'm also selling the dealer installed highway/crash bar.
My streamlined belly shape is much more aerodynamic than that shield anyway. And now the bike is fine at 80 mph.
No touring bike of the year. But also very safe feeling.
