Buying a 1994 Dyna Wide Glide.
I am buying a 94 dyna wide glide soon, but had a few questions about mid controls and exhaust. I was wondering if its possible/best method on installing mid controls. Ive gone through different forums and only found solutions for different model years, wondering if its the same method for the 94 as well? And lastly which 2-1 exhausts fit on this bike. I know most sites have a place where you choose your ride and fitment but those are known not be as accurate. If there are any 94 owners on here which exhausts are you running?
thank you and sorry In advance if there are already threads in these two subjects
Also you might have better comments/reply’s in the EVO section. Maybe even someone who has some parts? Good luck and post some pictures when you get it!

thank you! I think I might need to change the primary cover inside and out in order for the shifter to be placed there I will send this over to the EVO section!
Google "Thread: Quick and Dirty Primary Drilling for Mid Controls" and your first hit will be have excellent instructions and pics. It's a simple job if you take your time, just drilling and tapping one hole, drilling another and grinding a bit on a lock tab. I found it looking for info on drilling bagger inner primary castings for my FXR (same principle) but the instructions are for an Evo Wide Glide. Dyna mids are plentiful at swap meets and online. (I don't own a Dyna but I used the right side Dyna controls on my bagger box FXR conversion and did a buttload of research first.)
I have a 1995. You will have no problems at all picking up the mid controls from ebay, or wherever 2nd hand bits are in your area as most people want forwards & are keen to dispose of their remainders. I transferred mine back to mids as I like handling & forwards can be kept as footrests alone
The holes for your mids are already drilled into the frame as mentioned above. The brake lever is attached to the right mid-mount, you'll need the shorter brake rod which screws into your master cyl. This side is easy.
I would be very surprised if you dont already have the hole for your gear actuator owing to the year of your bike. Take off the primary chain adjustment plate and look straight ahead. If there's nothing there you will need an inner primary, again...these are around, just usually when you dont need them. 94 & 95 are only slightly different from later models, simpler in several ways so whatever you do will not be too challenging. Contact me if I can help as like most of us here I learned a lot on the job.

I think he's right about everything. My FXDL is 2002 and even it has a mid shifter shaft (as you can see if you look at my sig.) so yours should have all the holes for the shaft at the least.
