fxdf speedo lit when ignition off

fxdf speedo lit when ignition off
my 2009 fat bob speedo is lit even when ignition is switched in off position...ive had a look at wiring diagrams on the site but cant see the colour of wire that supplies bulb in speedo..im assuming im picking up power from other source ..any tips where to look for likely places cheers from uk and hi to all you guys

yes its in off position..i should say that there is some damage to face so maybe water ingression..another member as sorted me out with fitting second hand speedo so im hoping that will fix it...though i must say im toying with idea of buying[tis xmas ] my self the new colour changing speedo with tacho...all depends on if i can find suitable second hand unit before winter breaks have good one

Look at your ignition switch. Pull the dash off so you have access to the switch harness connector. Turn on ignition so it lights up. Then turn it off. If the speedo is still illuminated, unplug the ignition switch. Speedo goes dark . . . replace the ignition switch.

yes thanks for that... i have been told that when you buy new speedo/tacho it comes with data lead so that you can take old speedo reading from ecu ...i didnt intend getting second hand speedo /tacho .. i have in fact found second hand 09 same as my damaged one so im fitting that ..thanks again.

just reread your reply...are you saying that the ignition swithch is/maybe faulty and needs renewing...i have 12 v olts at speedo even when ingition is off ..but it does go off if i pull fuses..do you know if all fused items should be thru ignition switch..

ok ive fitted second hand speedo to my 09 fat bob which had damaged face and the new second hand one same part number and year ,, worked without doing anything except the fitting..came up with 1087 miles on odometer so me bike now feels newer [ha] thanks for all input...
