Thanks. I'm very familiar with Mr. Messner. In fact I spoke to him a short while ago asking to pay for my 30mm carts which he is working on, but he was too busy. But apparently he has time to post on HD Forums....

Hmmmmmmmmmm.

Lol, just kidding Mr. Howard.

Road the 2017 LRS today. I knew in about .86 seconds that I wanted it. Just sitting there, having that motor shake in the frame, then smooth right out once underway was like coming home. Just like I remembered. Plus that 110 has *****. I really didn’t think It any noticeable difference from the softail LRS. I asked if it had a cam, but was told no. Maybe at the top end the M8 will have it, but for the most part, very similar. And maybe the TC 110 had a bit more torque off idle.

They let me have it unescorted. Took it for a good 30 min ride, all types. City streets, back roads, parkway and i95.

All in all, I wanted lt. left a deposit and will go to the bank and get a check tomorrow. Picking up on Thursday when tomorrow’s rain stops.

Now, the to do’s:
Shock springs - I have a pair of Ohlins HD 762’s formerly on a bagger, so I need lower rate springs for the Dyna.
Fork carts - I have a pair of bagger NIX 22’s that Howard Messner may be able to adapt for the Dyna.
Seat. Needs a better one.
Brake line move. The previous owner put on taller bars (8 or 10” I think) and routed the brake line up through the center of the tree. Removing it and having it run straight up should allow my 12” west coast t-bars to fit.
Install 12” WCT T-Bars
Grips - get rid of the silly metal grips the previous owner had.
Syn oil change - needs a starting point. Have a case of Red Line standing by.
Horn bracket - I’ll use a love jugs fan so it’ll need a standard horn bracket to support it, that the LRS doesn’t have currently.
Love jugs - 110 TC (or more) runs hot.
Horn - got to lose the pancake beeper.
Power vision - needs no introduction.
Pirellis - baby needs new shoes. Actually, that one is on me. Tires are fine, I just like Night Dragons.
Fobo - I want TPMS
Front sig relo kit- black 49mm clamps just like what’s on the softail are already on the way from eBay
SuperBrace - also on the way.

Once that’s all done (give me a few days) I’ll start looking into whether I want the SE 117, S&S 117, or the FuelMoto 113 kit.

Also have to evaluate the TBR 2:1 currently on it (really loud. Seems louder then the D&D on my Softail). If I’m going to put up with that volume level, why not get a thunderheader...? I’ve already lost so much hearing the TH will probably sound stock to me :-(

I’m pretty psyched.

If I may make a suggestion and just go with a 124. Replace the crank and do a timken conversion. The stock rods do not like the added power with the tapered small end design.

Do it once and be done.

However I’m wondering if it’s just me. So I’m looking at a 2017 Low Rider S at my local dealer this week. Going to take it for a ride, just to get a feel for it. That said, I probably wouldn’t buy it. I’d likely pick up a 103 Low Rider or street bob as a starting point to build up. Do my cosmetic and suspension stuff myself and probably get a FuelMoto big bore kit or similar. Definitely want something with ABS, which is harder to find on the Bob then the LR, but the Bob is more blacked out which is where it’ll go so may be the better choice. I can add a Arlen Ness big brake rotor on the single disc.

Probably will keep the Softail S for now, until at least I finish the Dyna project and don’t have a need for it. Who knows.

Just thinking...

Oh, and happy Easter!
I am selling a Street Bob with a S&S 110" in it down in philadelphia should you pull the trigger anytime soon. Less than 500 miles on the fresh engine.

Thanks, but I already picked up a LRS. Yours sounds like someone will get a great bike.

That Street Bob is SOO badass. I've got a '09 SuperGlide, and I think I may trade for a SB sometime down the road. Just so rad.

That LRS is ALSO badass, but the first thing I'd do when I got it home is powdercoat those wheels a flat black or something comparable, ANYTHING to get rid of that gold color. Ick!
