Finally got Dyna Wide on the road
I posted on this on 6/5 just before I changed the oils. I had just purchased it for $4,000.
NOTE: from the outside and operability, this bike is in excellent like new condition. In fact the underside of the fenders is like new. But the person who owned this bike previously was a complete mechanical / electrical idiot who apparently thought he could work on his own bike. I found stuff I'd have known better than to do to my bicycle when I was a 12 year old kid.
So I revved the engine to get the oil into the new filter and the belt snapped. Yes it was in neutral. I figured out later that the belt was grossly over tensioned. One thing led to another. Clutch needed some replacement parts. Put on all new lights only to find wiring nightmare and mismatched body and fender bolts and nuts. (metric nuts cross threaded onto SAE bolts everywhere)
I ended up with a tearing everything down but engine and trans.
Finally got it all back together. New belt, rebuilt clutch, starter pinion gear, Derby plate, battery cover, new LED headlight, signal and passing lights and new wiring from the battery out. Used lots of shrink tubing and new fasteners under rear fender. Plus rebuilt clutch release on trans side compartment and new clutch lever perch.
Add ons: engine guard, mirrors, oversized brake pedal and shifter peg. Saddle bags and standoffs. New grips and tank bib.
Took it out for maiden spin yesterday and didn't come home till around midnight.
