Two months ago when I bought my first 05 Dyna the bike ran ok but whenever I hit a bump the front fender would hit against the frame. The dealer acknowledged the problem & agreed to fix it while I waited. I noticed a custom 05 Dyna on the show room floor with only 900 miles on it and the bike was knock you dead beautiful. Foward controls, vance & hines short pipes, steel braided lines everywhere. Everything was chrome! The former owner must have put at least $2000 in the bike.
I asked the sales manager why the guy would put so much money into the bike only to get rid of it. The guy traded it in on a Road King. We made a deal and the bike was mine with 18 months of the original warrenty remaining. I changed all of the fluid over to synthetics and proceeded to ride my *** off. I noticed from the start that the bike ran stronger then the first one & a few days later I had to pass some traffic. The bike flies! I can turn it on in fifth gear at 50 MPH & it hits 100 in less then 10 secconds. If I drop a gear the front end lifts a couple inches off the pavement. I asked the sales guy to check out what the previous owner had done to the bike and he claims nothing. Years ago I had a stock metric bike that other bikes with major engine work couldn't run with. Anyone ever have a similiar experience?
Sure, I did a few mods to my 03' LowRider...I'll concede that.....but
There is no reason to explain why my Dyna runs like she does .........I have had riders on crotch rockets give me a second look when running side by side on the interstate.
The bike just screams and from what you described I'd swear you were talking about my own bike.
There's always the possibilty that the previous owner had some work done at a different dealer.
There could be a stage 2 in that bike, and you don't even know it.

With the front fender hitting? No, my front forks would bottom, but I fixed that with progressive front springs.
The bike flies? No flying, but quick. One thing I have learned though, just about the time you think you have a fast bike, some young dude on a Triumph blows you helmet off.
Speaking of mods that could have taken place that go un-noticed. A buddy of mine drilled out the existing hole in the plunger part [sm=smiley25.gif] of his carb that really seemed to improve his throttle response. Has anyone else heard or done this?
